In January 2010 representatives of the UN-SPIDER Regional Support Office participated in UN Technical Advisory Mission in Namibia. Within the mission technical support in the area of flood mapping from satellite synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and information technologies for satellite data processing was provided. Ground-truth data were collected in order to provide validation of flood products, especially for areas of flooded vegetation, as well as satellite data (both optical and radar) were acquired to support the field campaign.
