Representatives of the UN-SPIDER RSO in Ukraine, Prof. Nataliia Kussul, Prof. Andrii Shelestov, and Dr. Sergii Skakun took part in the 2nd Annual UN-SPIDER Regional Support Offices Meeting that was held in Vienna, Austria from 8-11 February 2011. Prof. Kussul delivered a presentation on activities carried out by the UN-SPIDER RSO in Ukraine in 2010, and provided a plan of work for 2011. |
Also, various existing mechanisms of acquiring satellite data in case of emergency were discussed, in particular, International Charter “Space and Major Disasters”, Sentinel Asia, GMES SAFER and SERVIR. The possibilities and procedures of activating these mechanisms for Ukraine were discussed as well.
